Autonomy Distillers, founded in 2019 by an environmental scientist and a geochemist, crafts highly-regarded aperitivos and liqueurs with an experimental spirit. Their eclectic range incorporates native Australian botanicals, local produce, and sustainable methods, driven by a passion for thoughtful innovation and a distinctive blend of scientific precision with creative exploration.
We were commissioned to transform Autonomy’s brand narrative, developing a refined, contemporary visual language beginning with the bottles themselves and extending seamlessly across all packaging elements, print, and digital collateral. This bold new direction features a confident wordmark and personality-rich companion typefaces, resulting in an elevated, yet approachable, brand identity.
Balancing technical precision with compelling design, Autonomy’s visual language is grounded in a strong sense of order. Governing rules and an underlying grid establish consistency, designed to outlast fleeting trends and support the expanding product range. The identity prioritises clarity, simplifying communication and deliberately eschewing conventional environmental tropes to maximise impact and create intrigue-driven engagement. This TIMELESS or AUTHENTIC approach is underpinned by a neutral colour palette, allowing the vibrant natural hues of Autonomy’s products to take centre stage.
